I am most grateful to these eight individuals for accepting this important role in the life of our Collaborative and they will be officially installed at a special Sunday Mass in each parish early this fall. The members of the CPC offer counsel and advice to me as Pastor on matters that impact the mission of our Collaborative as part of the overall efforts of the New Evangelization and Disciples in Mission.

The New Evangelization is crucial to flaming the flames of a new Pentecost in the life of the Church. Serving our community here in Dorchester, the Collaborative Parishes have the ability and the responsibility to touch the lives of so many people sacramentally and pastorally in order to help them grow in a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. In Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis reminds us that, “An evangelizing community knows that the Lord has taken the initiative, that he has loved us first (cf. 1 Jn 4:19), and therefore we can move forward, boldly take the initiative, go out to others, seek those who have fallen away, stand at the crossroads and welcome the outcast.” Let us all pray that this important work be blessed and thrive!

This week our seminarian for the summer arrived. Please join me in welcoming Corey Bassett-Tirrell, a third year theologian at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston who has been assigned to St. Ann’s and St. Brendan’s for an eight week pastoral placement. Corey is a very talented and faith-filled man who is excited to be serving and learning in our midst this summer. As you see him around the neigh-borhood, please introduce yourself to him. Please pray for Corey and all the seminarians as they engage their summer placements.

Have a blessed week ahead!

In His peace,

Father Michael E. Drea
